With the final, but unofficial, election numbers in, it appears two of the three Sonora City Councilmen who ran for re-election in June will keep their seats.
Numbers released by the Tuolumne County Elections Office showed Mayor Bill Canning finished in third place in the City Council election, with 449 votes, or approximately 19.7 percent. That means Canning will keep his seat on the council, as he inched past Councilman David Sheppard, who received 401 votes, or 17.7 percent, the results showed.
