A fugitive wanted by Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office was arrested Thursday night after evading authorities for about two months.
Kristopher James Randi, 23, a transient in the Tuolumne County area was arrested about 8 p.m and taken by ambulance to Sonora Regional medical center after he was found hiding in a Jamestown home.

Fugitive arrested in Jamestown
A fugitive shot by a Jamestown man whose house he had broken into was being treated Friday morning at Sonora Regional Medical Center for injuries from a gunshot wound and dog bite to his leg, according to a Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office report.
When released from the hospital, Kristopher James Randi, 23, a transient in the Tuolumne County area, will be booked into Tuolumne County Jail on suspicion of felony burglary, resisting arrest, and warrants, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Johnson.

Rain, snow in weekend forecast
Rain and snow are forecast in the Central Sierra this weekend, potentially putting a damper on some pre-Halloween activities.
The National Weather Service reported this morning that a Pacific weather system is expected to move into Northern and Central California by Saturday morning. Subsequent rain showers are expected to stick around through Sunday and clear out by Sunday night.

Planned Calaveras snowplay area OK’d
The Calaveras County Planning Commission unanimously approved plans Thursday to reopen the former Cottage Springs Ski Area along upper Highway 4 as a sledding and tubing resort.
The Planning Commission is recommending the county Board of Supervisors adopt an ordinance to rezone the 67-acre property from “unclassified highway service” to “recreation” in addition to approving a conditional-use permit to operate Cottage Springs Resort.

Participation in Mother Lode after-school programs varies widely compared to the state average, but the programs are available at most local schools.
The state was ranked highest in the nation in the “America After 3 p.m.” survey by the Afterschool Alliance, a nonprofit organization that advocates for after-school programs.
